Word / Silence
In a blog that concerns itself so much with words, I find it wise and illuminating to consider this aphorism from Life's Little Instruction Calendar, Volume XVIII, by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.:
Silence is often the best way to have the last word.
I am a retired college professor in the Southwestern United States, communication studies my field.
I've ALWAYS been interested in language and have done several light-hearted but serious page-a-day calendars on the theme for family and friends, the younger contingent of whom has encouraged me to do a blog. This is it!
